Men's singles :

World number one and Serb top seed Novak Djokovic defeated Britain's Andy Murray 7-6(5), 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-0 to win his fifth Australian Open title on Sunday.

Djokovic, who won his eighth Grand Slam title, is now just one Australian Open title short of the legendary Roy Emerson, who won nine titles at the Melbourne Park.

Djokovic won nine straight games to win the fourth set 6-0 after winning the third set 6-3.

Sixth seed Murray crumbled in the eighth game of the third set, handing Djokovic three break points and then double-faulting to give the Serb a 5-3 lead.

Djokovic coolly served out the set as Murray went to his chair fuming.

Murray levelled the final at 7-6(5) 6-7(4) after winning a marathon second set lasting 80 gruelling minutes.

Women's singles :

Top-seeded Serena Williams took home her 19th Grand Slam title after defeating Maria Sharapova in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). This is Williams' sixth Australian Open crown, the most in the open era, having previously won it in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010 and now 2015.

As always, Williams played focused and sharp against Sharapova despite battling a cold. It's been 10 years since the Russian star has beaten Williams, who used her serve to dominate the game. Not only did Williams log 18 aces, but she also won 84 percent of first serve points to Sharapova's 67 percent. Williams was the aggressor throughout, going to the net and gambling on winners while Sharapova played more conservatively.

Mixed Doubles :

Indian tennis star Leander Paes clinched his 15th Grand Slam title as he and Swiss ace Martina Hingis won the Australian Open mixed doubles title.

The seventh seed Indo-Swiss pair turned back the clock to serve past third seeds Daniel Nestor and Kristina Mladenovic 6-4, 6-3 in the 1 hour and 2 minutes battle at the Rod Laver Arena.

While the 41-year-old Paes clinched his seventh mixed doubles crown, Hingis, who came out of retirement for the second time a couple of years back, collected her 11th doubles Slam apart from her five singles titles.
